Horse Care Level 2 Work-Based Diploma
About this Course...
At the centre, we have excellent training facilities; the courses are suitable for anyone who wishes to study horse care in the work place. You will study a range of topics that will enable you to work safely and effectively with horses.
What will I need for the course?
You will need to have achieved the NVQ Level 1 in Horse Care or BHS Stage 1 certificate. Entry is also subject to a successful interview at which you will need to be able to demonstrate knowledge of why you want to work with horses and the enthusiasm to achieve within the industry.
Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to study horse care in the work place rather than attending a full time class room based college course.
What will I study on the course?
You will study a range of topics that will enable you to work effectively and safely with horses. The topics studied will include maintaining horse health, stable management, grassland management, nutrition, health & safety, transportation and developing effective working relationships. Some students may also be given the opportunity to undertake the ridden units. The programme will be based in one of our approved training centres so you will be learning in an industry based commercial environment.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through completion of course work and practical assessments while working on the yard.
How long is the course?
The course is one year in length.
What can I do on completion of this course?
Students who successfully attained Level 2 can enter the industry or progress on to the Level 3 programme. Alternatively you could apply to progress on to a full-time horse management programme at Ace Animal Equine Training and Education LTD. It is possible to enter directly to BHS stage examinations provided the correct options are taken, please ask for further details.
