About this Course...

The course is suitable for those who wish to develop a career in the animal care industry.
It prepares individuals for careers including Trainee Veterinary Nurse, Kennel Assistant or assistant in a dog grooming salon. The course covers a range of topics to develop the skills required to care for a arrange of small animals and other livestock including horses .It covers such topics as animal feeding, provision of suitable housing for animals, handling and restraint, grooming and safe working practices in the animal care.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs at D+ including English, maths and or science or level 1 in animal care
You must also be committed to working with animals and have a keen interest in animal care. You will be working outside with a range of livestock and other animals so you need to be flexible and prepared to work outside in all weathers.

NPTC Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care

Assessment

You will be continually assessed on a range of written and practical assignments.

Progression
Employment in the animal care industry, or progression on to further study on the NPTC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management.
